Weekend Intensive: Throwing with Components

Take your wheel throwing to the next level in this focused weekend intensive, designed for potters ready to explore more complex forms.

 

This course is all about creating pieces with multiple elements. Creating mugs with perfectly balanced handles, lidded jars, teapots, and more.

​

Over two immersive days, you’ll learn how to throw and assemble separate components with precision and confidence. From pulling and attaching handles to shaping spouts and crafting well-fitting lids, you’ll gain the skills needed to bring more intricate designs to life.

​

You’ll also explore timing (knowing exactly when to join pieces for the strongest results) as well as refining techniques like trimming, aligning, and finishing for a professional look. There’s plenty of room to experiment with form and function while receiving guidance tailored to your skill level.

Perfect for improvers and beyond, this hands-on workshop is both challenging and rewarding. By the end of the weekend, you’ll have created your own multi-part ceramic piece and developed the confidence to tackle more ambitious projects on the wheel.

The course will run from 10am - 3pm each day and we will provide lunch.
